ABOUT LARS

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Lars has worked for a myriad of breweries from N. CA to SoCal, eventually parlaying his extensive experience into becoming a founding partner and Brewmaster for HiDef  Brewing, which has since rebranded themselves as Audio Graph Beer Co., located in downtown LA.

Beginning in the early 90s at Lost Coast Brewery in Eureka, CA, he juggled multiple endeavors, balancing his time between a masters program at Cal Poly Humboldt, brewing, bartending, and raising his 3 children, making Northern California his home for many years. In that time, he went on to work for an additional four breweries before relocating to Oakland to manage large scale roasting and packaging production for Peet’s Coffee. 

His passion for craft beer called out once again, however, and he returned to Los Angeles, where he worked for Angel City and finally, El Segundo Brewing before founding Audio Graph.

After 25 years of managing larger breweries, the chance to work at a smaller brewery as an owner and founder and the creative control of their craft products felt like a dream of an opportunity. 

HiDef Brewing/Audio Graph Beer Co. opened initially during the first months of the COVID lockdowns. In spite of the challenges confronting them, they have not only held their own, but Lars has gone on to win 17 major beer awards in just the last two years with his own skillfully executed recipes. 

He is the first Brewmaster in the history of the California State Fair to take home the prestigious Best of Show "Golden Bear" for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024, for his Bass Clef Double Barrel Aged Barley Wine Ale.

Lars' personal hobbies and interests include motorcycles, woodworking, camping, fly fishing, sketching, painting, cooking, and driving his wife bonkers with his ridiculous dad jokes.
